Research

The Department of Petroleum Engineering is a leading centre in petroleum engineering research. There is a close relationship with the International Research Institute of Stavanger.

The department has about 40 faculty members and staff. Current enrolment is about 20 PhD students, 110 master students, and 350 undergraduate students.

Oil and Gas - research

At the Department of Petroleum Engineering, all relevant petroleum-related research fields are covered. Research is carried out in close collaboration with the oil industry and the International Research Institute of Stavanger (IRIS).

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate is located on campus and many oil companies have their Norwegian headquarters in the Stavanger area.
