Faculties at the Univerity of Stavanger

The academic activity is organized in 3 faculties, the Museum of Archaeology and two national centres of expertise.

Faculty of Arts and Education

The Faculty represents something quite novel among Norwegian Universities. For the first time profession-oriented study programmes of such as the general teacher’s training and the pre-school teacher’s training have been incorporated into a university.

Faculty of Social Sciences

The Faculty conducts teaching and research within the disciplines of Sociology, Art and Culture studies, Economy, Political Science, Media and Journalism, Hotel Management, Change Management, Risk Management and Societal Safety, Social Work, Nursing and Health Studies. The Faculty of Social Sciences stands out in its combination of academic disciplines and professional training programmes, and through its interdisciplinary approach.

Faculty of Science and Technology

The Faculty is in some areas within petroleum research among the world’s best. The research of increased oil recovery in carbonate fields is a case in point.
