The University of Stavanger would like to invite your university staff members to Staff Exchange Week in Stavanger (Norway). The event will offer you a perfect chance to build your professional network, share experience and create new opportunities for international cooperation.
Target group, suitable background and language of communication
Participants should be staff members from UiS partner universities, working with international issues, e.g. mobility, international student admission, student advising or internationalization in general. The language of communication will be English.

Dates
The UiS Staff Exchange Week will be arranged in week 42, between 17 - 21 October, 2011. The programme will commence on Monday at 09:00. During the first two days and the two last ones, we will organise common activities for the participants. On Wednesday the 19th, between 08:00 – 15:00, each participant will have the opportunity to visit a faculty/department/division. These visits are to be organised by the participants before arrival (preferably before registration, in order to be sure of the availability of the counterpart). We will naturally assist you with contact information (upon request).
Call for presentation - best practice:
We hereby invite all interested participants to send a proposal of presentations of best practice to the workshops. A presentation should not exceed 15 minutes. If you have any issue that you believe is of interest for the other participants, you are very welcome to send in your abstract. We will review all abstracts, and you will be notified of our decision shortly after deadline for submission. All proposals should be sent to trym.holbek@uis.no or celine.nygaard@uis.no

Hotel information
All transport and accommodation costs will be the responsibility of each participant. In order to accommodate the participants together, the UiS have reserved rooms at 2 alternative venues located in the city center. Thon Hotel Maritim is a very comfortable hotel while Stavanger B&B is a cheaper but also simpler alternative (common toilets). For more information please check the links below.
- Thon Hotel Maritim - price: single room - 1100 NOK per night. Please mention the reservation code 5290 380 in the e-mail correspondance with the Thon Hotel Maritim (maritim@thonhotels.no).
- Stavanger Bed & Breakfast - price: double room with shower - 790 NOK; single room with shower - 720 NOK. Please note that single rooms are really small.
Please note that booking should be made directly by the participants to the hotel chosen. We recommend to book the rooms as soon as possible due to limited availability of hotel accommodation in Stavanger. Please mention "UiS" once you order the room to get the negotiated price.
You are also welcome to make your own arrangements regarding accommodation.

Most international guests travel to Stavanger by air. It is also possible to reach Stavanger by train, ferry, bus or car.
