Changes in the library's premises

Fewer shelves, more PCs, new reading places and more signs. All these are changes which we hope will make the library's premises even more inviting and suitable for our users.

More and more journal articles are read in digital version only, and the need for printed editions of all scientific journals is not as great as before. We have therefore cancelled the subscription on most of our printed journals, and prioritize digital access. This leads to less need for shelves. Because of this, five shelves have been removed from the library. Therefore we have room for four more PCs and four more reading places. This also means that the library appears more open and bright than before.

Previously, the academic journals were arranged by faculty. Now, they are arranged alphabetically by title. We receive approx. 600 journals in printed edition, this is a significant decrease compared to a few years ago. Our digital services, however, become larger, and we now offer about 10 000 journals through online subscription.

Finding your way in the library has been made easier with signs and a new electronic shelf map. Read more about it here.

On the lower ground floor, working tables have been replaced with desks adapted to individual studies. These desks have power outlets for using PC. This fits better with the lower ground floor being a quiet zone, something many students have wished for. In the future we hope to have even more reading places on the lower ground floor.
