The PhD project aims to characterise the Porin channels found in the plant peroxisomes. The peroxiomal membranes are isolated from leaves of Arabidopsis plants and then studied electrophysiologically, using the Planar Lipid Bilayer technique. Also, two membrane proteins are being overexpressed in Pichia pastoris to characterise them in more detail. In addition, the subcellular localization studies of few matrix proteins is also being done.
