Professor Eva Johansson is an experienced researcher in early years education with an extensive research and publication profile in the area of values education and children?s moral learning. She has been involved in several early education national and international research projects involving qualitative and quantitative data production. Johansson is responsible for the research program Learning cultures in early education at University of Stavanger (UiS) and is the coordinator of the research field Values in early education. Johansson is first chief investigator in the recently initiated international research project on values and gender in early childhood education, and a research and implemental study in collaboration with two Norwegian municipalities. Johansson is involved in the Norwegian project Better provision for Norway's children in ECEC: A study of children's wellbeing and development in ECEC, and new tool for Quality Evaluation .Johansson is also engaged in international collaboration on an Australian Research Council funded project investigating how school and policy contexts in the early years support children?s moral and social values learning and active citizenship. Johansson has extensive post-graduate research supervision experience and currently supervises several Doctoral (PhD) students in Norway UiS, Sweden (GU; Lnu) and Island (IU). Johansson is involved in academic commissions, evaluations of academic positions and PhD-degrees (committee and opponent), leaderships of Master and PhD-education in the field of early education at the UiS, and nationally and internationally. She has written several book and articles addressing preschool teacher education and the field of practice.

Forskningsområder

Eva Johansson är professor i pedagogik med en lång erfarenhet av forskning om barns lärande i förskola och tidiga skolår. Eva har speciellt intresserat sig för etiska frågor i förskolan med utgångspunkt från barns och vuxnas perspektiv. Relationer mellan lek och lärande liksom kvalitet i möten mellan barn och vuxna är också aktuella forskningsområden. Eva har medverkat i ett antal nationella och internationella studier och  har publicerat en rad artiklar och böcker.

Eva är ledare för programområdet "Læringskulturer i barnehage" liksom för forskningsområdet "Verdispørsmål i barnehage". Pågående forskning är bland annat studien "Verdier i barnehage" som är ett samarbetsprojekt mellan UiS och två kommuner med 7 barnehager i Rogaland. En annan pågående studie är: "Omsorgsfulla, disciplinerade och demokratiska flickor och pojkar i barnehagen. En studie om värden och kön i kommunikation mellan lärare och barn  (1-3 år) i barnehage." Studien är ett samarbete med Linneuniversitetet i Sverige.  Flera medarbetare vid IFU deltar i studierna. Eva handleder flera PhD studenter inom förskoleområdet.
