Her interests span from baroque to contemporary. She is an active performer of chamber music, participated in the Stavanger International Chamber Festival in 1999, 2004 and 2005 and in addition plays in Stavanger New Music Ensemble.
Liv Opdal has performed as soloist with several Symphony Orchestras in Norway and abroad.
Together with her former teacher Aage Kvalbein she won the Norwegian “Grammy” in 1998 for Lasse Thoresen’s "Illuminations".

Liv Opdal has been Principal Cellist of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra since 1987. She also teaches at the University of Stavanger, Department of Music and Dance.
