3D lab

The library's 3D lab is open to all students and staff at UiS.

In the University library at Ullandhaug, students have the opportunity to use a Cube Pro Trio 3D printer. This printer has a maximum print size of 20 x 23 x 27 cm, and can print the materials ABS, PLA and Nylon. We use ABS.

We also have a 3D scanner, which you can use to scan an object and print it with the 3D printer.

The purpose of this is to provide insight into a technology that will be common in the near future.

The software you use to design objects is called Inventor. You can download a free student edition on your own PC. If you just want to try out the technology you can also select an object from the website Thingiverse.

It is free for students and staff to use this service, but before you get full access it is required that you attend an introduction with one of the staff. This takes approximately 20 minutes.
