Partners and projects

This Nordic study supported by NordForsk involves values education in early childhood settings in five countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Approximately 481 adults and 1930 children between one and six years will participate in the study.

    The Finnish study

    The Finnish study is called "From exclusion to belonging: developing narrative practices in day care centers and schools (BELONG)"

    Lead by Professor Eila Estola

    Adjunct professor, senior research fellow Anna-Maija Puroila coordinates the Nordic co-operation of the Finnish research team

    In Finland, the project will be implemented in a co-operation between the University of Oulu and four preschools located in the neighborhood of Oulu. Approximately 85 adults, four leaders, and 550 children will be involved.

    The Swedish study

    The Swedish study is called "Values education in Swedish preschools"

    In Sweden, the project will be conducted in a co-operation between Linnæus University and eight preschools located in south east of Sweden. The project involves 150 practitioners, 7 leaders and aproximatively 600 children.

    The Norwegian study

    The Norwegian study is called "Values education in Norwegian EECEC settings"

    Lead by Professor Eva Johansson She is also the leader of the Nordic project as a whole

    In Norway, the study rests on an ongoing collaboration between the University of Stavanger and two municipalities; Gjesdal and Sandnes. The project involves seven preschools, approximately 180 practitioners, 7 leaders and aproximatively 600 children.

    The Danish study is called "Værdier i vuggestue og børnehave"

    In Denmark, the project will be carried out in a co-operation between the University of Aarhus and three individual preschools all located in the neighborhood of Copenhagen. Approximately 18 practitioners and 60 children are involved.

    The Icelandic study

    The Icelandic study is called "Lífsgildi í leikskólastarf"

    In Iceland, the project will be carried out at the Center for Research on Early Childhood Education at the University of Iceland and undertaken in two preschools in the City of Reykjavik. Approximately 18 practitioners, 3 leaders, and 120 children will be involved.
