Jon Tømmerås Selvik, Associate Professor

Jon Tømmerås Selvik is an Associate Professor in Risk Management at the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Stavanger and at SEROS (Centre for Risk Management and Societal Safety). He is also a Sr. Research Scientist at the International Research Institute of Stavanger (IRIS).

He has a Master of Science in Societal Safety and a PhD in risk management on treatment of uncertainty in reliability and risk informed operations and maintenance planning. His research areas cover reliability, risk and decision analysis. A main part of his work is based on collection and use of subsea reliability data. From 2006 to 2008 he worked at the IRIS testing facility (Ullrigg Drilling and Well Centre, UBBS), where he performed testing of various equipment, in particular drilling jars and gas lift valves, for the oil and gas industry. He has been involved in the DrillWell research centre, working on life cycle well integrity, with focus on well barrier reliability. He is currently a technical editor in ISO TC 67/WG 4: Reliability Engineering and Technology.
