However, under the current demanding industrial and market conditions, the project engineering and management process has become an extremely demanding task in many ways. Very recent events clearly indicate the complexities as well as uncertainties associated with modern projects, and the need for new solutions and practices to manage inherent risks as well as business value. This involves various issues ranging from, economical sensitivities, quality of decisions, risk and opportunity awareness, to legal, political, and other commercial matters. As the projects engage multiple partners with different roles, tasks, and capabilities, an innovative project engineering and management process can make a significant business difference both in short and long terms.

Ongoing Group Project: Cross-Functional Excellence in Project Lifecycle: A Template for a Lean and Effective Assessment
Efficient project management requires tools that are flexible enough to adjust to every context, but sturdy enough to be consistently effective. The objective of this project is to develop, test and link a digital tool that can be used in the industry as a project management model. The starting point comes from a previous project on the EU 6th framework: The KISOLL project.
The steps in this process include:
- Develop a digital tool by modifying an existing one
- Select appropriate business cases and test tool
- Identify other existing similar tools and link models together
