About Centre for IP-based Service Innovation (CIPSI)

Established by the board of University of Stavanger (UiS) on November 28th 2012, CIPSI has its goal to strengthen the applied ICT research at UiS and IRIS.

CIPSI has the following six goals for the period 2014-2018

1. National innovation network
CIPSI will be involved in the following Centers for Research-based Innovation (SFI) initiative/proposals:

  • Welfare Technology (Jointly with Nursing and Center for Innovation Research)
  • Smart Grid
  • Big-data Analytics

2. Horizon2020
CIPSI will be involved in an initiative together with other regional partners to prepare for EU Light-house project on Smart Cities.

3. Research infrastructure
CIPSI will perform a long-term strategic investment in the scientific computing infrastructure in form of a CIPSI data center.

4. Staffing
CIPSI will aim to create a new permanent engineer position to support CIPSI’s research infrastructure and project tasks.

5. Research-based Education
CIPSI will support research-based education environment for PhD, Master and Bachelor students.

This work will be established on the basis of existing SIU project with Purdue University, existing proposal submitted to SIU with Tsinghua University and Tianjin University, and existing ERASMUS and EEA/Norway Grants with Lodz University of Technology.

6. International network
CIPSI has currently established stable collaboration with Purdue University, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, and Lodz University of Technology (member of ECIU).
