Core commitment
Plans to create an international body under the leadership of acclaimed researcher Simon G. Møller to study organelles in plant and animal cells are being pursued by the University of Stavanger.
Energy and the environment is a cross-disciplinary research field rooted primarily in technology and engineering subjects, but which also includes several social science research issues.
Work covers pure energy matters, such as improved oil recovery, pure environmental questions such as water pollution, and subjects where the two interact – such as oil production in the far north.
Risk and safety, economics, and social responsibility also represent important research fields.
The petroleum business is the most important industry studied, but research activities also cover other sectors and energy sources – such as wind and currents – and more general environmental issues.
