Environmental Monitoring and Nature Management in the Northern Oil and Gas Producing Regions - Master's Degree Programme

The programme offers a limited group of motivated and strong students the unique opportunity to study environmental aspects of the on- and offshore oil and gas development in the northern regions, with special attention to the Barents and Kara seas, and the northern Russian tundra. Students will complete courses both at the University of Stavanger and in St. Petersburg (SPbSU) Accepted candidates will receive an additional scholarship for the exchange term, covering living and travel expenses, and additional programme costs.

Work opportunities
Environmental legislation and offshore industry courses will give the candidates a broad knowledge base for a range of professional opportunities in the international energy, oil and gas industry.

The requirements for the program are Bachelor degree in science or engineering in the areas environmental studies, chemistry, ecology or marine biology. Candidates with corresponding Bachelor degree in relevant areas will also be considered. In selection of candidates background in environmental science, environmental chemistry, and microbiology will be given priority. The general requirement for mathematics at technical master studies is according to the requirements at UiS; 30 credits mathematics/statistics, normally corresponding to basic mathematics (Math 1 and 2), advanced mathematics (Math 3) and statistics. The English language requirements are according to the requirements set by UiS for students on English language Master programmes.
