International Hotel and Tourism Leadership


Since 1992 the Norwegian School of Hotel Management has offered MSc in International Hotel and Tourism Leadership and is currently the only institution in Norway offering this master programme in English.

The study programme aims at providing the candidates with high level knowledge of theory and research in the hotel, restaurant and tourism sector. Individual learning and personal improvement is being stimulated through tailored programmes with an emphasis on problem based learning. The program is designed to qualify successful candidates to enter leadership positions in the hotel, tourism and service industry.

During the study period there are possibilities for international student exchanges throughout the world, with one of our partner universities.

Admission Requirements for international students:
Applicants must have a Bachelor´s Degree in hospitality, tourism, economics or an equivalent and relevant first degree. A Bachelor´s Degree in a closely related field is prioritised only when the applicant has exceptionally high grades.

English Language Requirements
Proficiency in English is required of all students in Norway. Foreign students, who are not native speakers of English, have to document their knowledge of English with one of the following tests:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
Min. score 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based) or 80 (internet-based). More information about TOEFL, please check the following link: www.toefl.org. International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
Min. score 6.0.

Entry information
Applicants must demonstrate competitive academic standards. Normally, the level of grades of those that are shortlisted is equivalent to a Second Class Upper Division or better. Applicants with a grade level equivalent to Second Class Lower Division, or lower, will not be considered for admission. Applicants with work experience are prioritised.
