MSc in Petroleum Geosciences Engineering
The department of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Stavanger is at the forefront of petroleum engineering and geosciences education worldwide. The MSc programme in Petroleum Geosciences Engineering is uniquely focused on the specific needs of exploration and production of the petroleum industry.
A successful learner from this programme will be able to solve geosciences problems by integrating different types of surface and subsurface data used by the oil industry and to integrate such information with Petroleum engineers. In addition, individuals will be able to formulate strategies and have the key fundamental knowledge to develop, manage and implement technology within the oil industry.
The program, which has been develop in close collaboration with the oil industry and the petroleum engineering programme, qualifies for a broad range of positions within the oil industry, both operators and service companies. The programme also qualifies for other industry or institutes where geosciences are applied such as construction, geo-environmental, mining, underground water and governmental companies.
A complete master degree in Petroleum Geosciences Engineering may qualify for admission to the PhD programme in Petroleum technology and geosciences at the University of Stavanger.

Entry:
Bachelor degree in Petroleum Geosciences Engineering from the University of Stavanger or equivalent. What we consider equivalent is a geosciences and/or engineering bachelor degree with preferable 30 study points in mathematics and/or statistics, and 25 study points in geosciences (geology and/or geophysics).
