The Guide for the Doctoral Programme at UiS will provide information and practical tips for PhD candidates, supervisors, members of the evaluation committee and others who are involved in PhD programmes at the University of Stavanger.

The guide is based on the "Regulations for the degree Philosophiae Doctor (PhD) at UiS" adopted by the Board of Trustees March 31st, 2004, and gives an overview of rules and procedures in connection with the completion of the doctoral program. It also provides links to further information and forms that PhD candidates or supervisors need in different phases of the doctoral education.

Most of our PhD candidates are employed in PhD positions at the University of Stavanger, or by external institutions. Regardless of funding form and employer, all PhD candidates are students at UiS. There are duties and rights, agreements and reporting practices related to both of these relations.
