Organization of the PhD studies

Research training at the University of Stavanger is ultimately managed by rector and the University Board.

In addition to this UiS has appointed four doctoral committees, one institutional committee and one for each of the three faculties. Quality assurance and coordination of the research training on an institutional level is delegated to the institutional doctoral committee, and the operation of the programmes, both academically and administratively, is delegated to the relevant faculties, where it is carried out and monitored by the doctoral committees.

An academic coordinator is designated to each program and functions as contact for the candidates as well as an academic area developer. The research training secretariat consists of five administrative coordinators who are responsible for administrating research training at UiS and can provide both administrative information and practical assistance. The academic and administrative coordinators are listed under each programme.
