English language and literature – bachelor’s degree programme


The three-year programme in English language and literature (180 ECTS) provides knowledge of and insight into English language, literature and culture.

Have you read Dylan Thomas? Are you familiar with the development of American literature and culture? English is regarded as the world’s most important language today, as the mother tongue of 400 million people and an important second language for many more. It is also the world’s principal language for conveying academic and scientific knowledge. Do you wish to command it fluently?

The Bachelor programme in English provides students with knowledge of English and American language, literature and culture. Graduates will be able to speak and write the language. Moreover, the programme seeks to promote tolerance, cooperation and understanding of other cultures, an expertise which is becoming increasingly important for participating in the international community.

Admission: Upper-secondary education. Students are encouraged to have basic prior knowledge of English

English – one-year programme

The one-year English programme (60 ECTS) provides a general introduction to the English language as well as English-language literature and social life.

English with didactics – one-year programme

The one-year programme for English with didactics (60 ECTS) is designed to give students the competence to teach English language in primary school.
