Dance – bachelor’s degree programme


The bachelor’s degree in dance (240 ECTS) is a four-year professional degree with integrated teacher training.

The institute’s aim is to educate conscious and independent dance teachers with a high level of artistic and educational expertise.

 Weight will be given throughout the course to integrating the student’s personal technical and creative development with an understanding of dance as an art form and as an art education subject.

The programme comprises performative subjects - 125 ECTS credits, additional subjects - 55 credits - including an independent study project worth 15 credits, and educational theory and practice - equivalent to 60 ECTS credits.

The successful candidates will have the performative, creative, theoretical, entrepreneurial and pedagogical knowledge and qualifications that are necessary in order to make their mark in the professional field.

Please note that the language of instruction depends on student interest and availability of academic staff. Thos who wish to qualify as teachers will normally have placements in Norwegian schools and knowledge of Norwegian is highly recommended.
