Research fields

After attaining both Bachelor and Master degrees in Mechanical Engineering (2000-2007) from the Iran University of Science and Technology, Amir Safari received his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering (focus on computer simulation driven design optimization) from the University of Stavanger, Norway. During his PhD research project, a novel integrated design optimization framework for high-dimensional and large-scale engineering problems with a focus on the energy conversion systems components was established, in a close collaboration with the Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada.

In 2014, after PhD completion, Dr. Amir Safari hold assistant professor position and exposed to the teaching tasks as the lecturer of some courses in computer aided design and engineering as well as co-supervision of several BSc/MSc thesis that is where his interest in the academic position started to develop.

From May 2015, for 3 years, he has been postdoctoral research fellow in Energy Management, working on energy system modeling and integration, decentralized renewables, energy efficiency and sustainable development, distributed power and heat production and onsite cogeneration, gas(biogas)-fired technologies, energy informatics, smart buildings/smart grids, educational course development and lecturing, BSc/MSc students supervision, EU and Norwegian research proposals writing up and application, etc.

At the present, Dr. Safari is Adj. Assoc. Prof. in Energy Informatics at the UiS, working on European Triangulum and other innovative projects/proposals, bridging the gaps between energy conversion systems and ICTs in an interdisciplinary way.
