The UiS Business School welcomes all interrested to join th eseminar Friday November 22 at Elise Ottesen-Jensens hus, EOJ 276/277 at 12:15-13:15.

Kjell Arne Brekke, professor at the Department of Economics, University of Oslo will present his paper titeled: Groups discipline resource use under scarcity

Using an online experiment, we study how scarcity affects borrowing decisions in groups. We show that the negative effect of scarcity is weaker for groups than for individuals. Even in our minimal design that excludes direct interaction or communication, the fact that participants know that their own behavior affects and can be partly observed by another participant disciplines their use of scarce resources. Our results thus highlight the benefit of groups as units of human organization.

The seminar is open to all interested and is part of the UiS Business School academic seminar-series that usual takes place on Wednesdays, but with some exeptions like this seminar.
