-----Modeling and control in biophysical systems-----

- Cybernetics and control theory in biochemical, biophysical, and physiological processes.

Control theory is applied to enhance understanding of biochemical mechanisms behind robust adaptation and homeostasis, especially the ability to perform homeostasis under oscillatory conditions. The work includes identifying model structures leading to robust homeostasis and/or oscillatory performance together with simulation of nonlinear systems and nonlinear analysis of biophysical systems from a control theoretic point of view.

-----Transmission and spread of antibacterial resistance in wastewater plants-----

This is a EU project under the Joint Programme Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPI-AMR). The project is called: Wastewater treatment plants as critical reservoirs for resistance genes (Gene-gas), and is performed in collaboration with top international groups at Lund University (Sweden) and Statens Serum Institute, Copenhagen (Denmark). The goal is to develop mathematical models for analysis of experimental data on dynamics of antimicrobial resistance genes in wastewater systems, and apply these model to predict fate under sludge treatment and applications.
