Forskningsområder

My background is interdisciplinary with focus on quaternary geology, paleoecology and archaeology. During my Master thesis, I investigated lakes in southern Greenland to reconstruct Holocene sea-level changes in the area. In my PhD-project, I used paleoecology to provide information about past land-use changes useful for ecosystem management in southern Sweden. Since then, I have expanded my research towards prehistoric agricultural development with focus on western Norway. My main methods include pollen analysis and numerical models, such as the Landscape Reconstruction Algorithm, that compensates for differences in pollen and dispersal characteristics between plants, to quantify past land-use changes. Currently, I am writing several papers related to past human-landscape interactions. A part of my position at the Museum of Archaeology I design archaeological projects as well as work as a project leader during excavations.

Scandinavian land-use and settlement dynamics during the last two millennia. In collaboration with Per Lagerås (associate professor at National Historical Museums), Erik Pelve (researcher at Uppsala University), Florence Mazier, (researcher at the University of Toulouse).

A synthesis of pollen composition in prehistoric cultivation layers in southwestern Norway. In collaboration with Lisbeth Prøsch-Danielsen & Christin Jensen at the University of Stavanger.

Land cover, land-use changes and exploitation of outfield resources at the Høg-Jæren heathland plateau, Southwestern Norway, during the last 6500 years. In Collaboration With Lisbeth Prøsch-Danielsen (University of Stavanger) & Christopher Prescottt (Norwegian Institute in Rome-UiO).
