The course covers important aspects when conducting research, and its written and oral presentation. The following aspects are covered: aids for literature search, writing tools, ethical principles when conducting and writing research, avoidance of plagiarism, copyright and presentation techniques. The students will be put in Groups and given a research "problem/topic". The groups will work out a research proposal to be submitted at the end of the term before an oral presentation of the work by all group members.
Learning outcome
The student will acquire knowledge how to plan for conducting research work, how to document the results, and how to write a scientific report. Furthermore, the student will learn how to solve a research problem by finding relevant literature and proposing experimental solutions.
Contents
The course covers important aspects when conducting research, and its written and oral presentation. The following aspects are covered: aids for searching and dealing with literature, writing tools, ethical principles when conducting and writing research, avoidance of plagiarism, copyright and presentation techniques. The students prepare an oral and written presentation og their solutions to a given research problem at the end of the course.

Method of work
Seminars. Mandatory work: presentation of the group work by all group members. Mandatory work demands (such as hand in assignments, lab- assignments, projects, etc) must be approved by subject teacher for completion of the course.
