In the course several fundamental principles for analyzing reliability and risk will be discussed. Among themes to be covered are: How to express risk and uncertainty? How to understand and use models? How to understand and use parametric probability distributions? How to use analyses in the decision making process? The course will start with relevant articles and books within the field, and themes to be covered in the course may vary. The course will have a seminar form, where the students will present and discuss problem issues associated with the content of selected articles. The course involves development, presentation and defense of written assignments, and participation in discussions during the seminar meetings.
Learning outcome
Upon completion of the course the candidate shall have substantial insight in fundamental issues within risk analysis, as mentions under "Content", and be able to reflect upon these from a research perspective
