The 14th Conference for the Society of Experimental Finance takes place at the University of Stavanger, School of Business and Law from June 10 - 13, 2024. Prior to the conference, the SEF PhD Summer School will be on campus Saturday, June 8th until Monday morning, June 10th, For the first time the main conference will include a networking session on women in finance on Tuesday, June 11th.
About the conference
The University of Stavanger and the Society for Experimental Finance (SEF) invite you to the Experimental Finance 2024 conference, to be held in Stavanger, Norway. The conference serves as the 14th annual meeting of the Society for Experimental Finance and will host a Women in SEF networking event bringing together attendees, keynote speakers, and finance professionals.
Conference Dates and Schedule

The conference will start in the afternoon of June 10 and end around lunch time on June 13. The schedule will be posted closer to the event.

Submission
We invite you to submit full papers or extended abstracts (minimum 1000 words) using experimental methods and covering all areas of finance, broadly defined. Please only submit if you have already collected your data. All submissions will be peer-reviewed by two anonymous referees.

We are proud to announce Nadya Malenko (Boston College) and Michaela Pagel (Washington University) as the Conference Key Note Speakers. Elena Asparouhova (University of Utah) will give the SEF presidential address.
Elena Asparouhova, University of Utah
Elena Asparohova is the Stena Faculty Chair of Finance at the David Eccles School of Business. She received her doctorate degree in Social Sciences from the California Institute of Technology and her Masters in Statistics from Sofia University, Bulgaria. Prof. Asparouhova's research interests are in theoretical and experimental financial economics.
Nadya Malenko, Boston College
Nadya Malenko is a professor of finance at Boston College. She is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, a research fellow at the Center for Economic and Policy Research, and a research member of the European Corporate Governance Institute. Professor Malenko’s research interests are in the areas of corporate finance, corporate governance, private equity, and organizational economics. She received her Ph.D. from Stanford University.
Michaela Pagel, Washington University
Michaela Page is an Associate Professor of Finance at Washington University, Olin Business School. She is a Research Network Affiliate, at the Center for Economic Studies. Her research interests are in the areas of household finance and behavioral economics. She received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Transportation
- FLYBUSSEN / Airport Shuttle. The bus takes you from the airport to Stavanger city centre. Some departures (but not all) will stop at the UiS campus (bus stop UiS Vest). More information about prices, booking and itinerary can be found on this website Flybussen Stavanger - Sola airport, the fastest way to city center. If you prefer local transportation from Airport take bus 42 (direction: Sandnes) to Koppholen B, then cross the street to Koppholen A where you can take the X60 to campus (UiS Øst).
- KOLUMBUS – local bus in the Stavanger area Kolumbus AS - public transport in Rogaland. Local busses X60, 6 and 7 will take you from Stavanger City centre to Ullandhaug campus. With local transportation «UiS Øst» is the bus stop closest to Arne Rettedal’s building. Traveling with the bus from Stavanger city centre (Byterminalen) to UiS campus takes approximately 15 minutes.

Be aware that the Aqua Next Conference 2024 is taking place at the same time in Stavanger, and we recommend participants to book hotel accommodataions as soon as possible.

- Participants for the PhD Summer School are to be accomodated at the Ydalir hotel on UiS Campus Ullandhaug. Separate arrangement will be in place for the Summer School attendees.
Exploring campus and Ullandhaug
- If you need a break and/or wish to explore the area, we recommend a visit to the Botanical Garden on campus (located behind Hulda Garborg's building). You may also explore Ullandhaugtårnet (Ullandhaug Tower) which can be seen from campus. There is a great view from the tower. This map shows both the Botanical Garden and Ullandhaugtårnet.

Stavanger is known for street art, food, culture and proximity to mesmerising nature attractions such as Preikestolen, the Lysefjord, Kjerag, Dalsnuten, Flørli, Flor & Fjære as well as a myriad of islands near Stavanger.
