The application process for seed funding for innovation projects are now open.

Published Updated on

Starting August 19, 2025, applications are open for seed funding for innovation projects within the strategic focus areas of simulation, integration of care services, and security and safety.

Projects must be grounded in clearly identified needs within healthcare services and should explore solutions to both current and future challenges in the health sector.

Please send the application to helsecampus@uis.no

Up to NOK 300,000 can be applied for per project. Budget information is requested for projects that progress to stage 2, the main application.

Themes such as service development, competence building, and digitalization will be prioritized (cf. NOU 2023:4 Time for Action and White Paper No. 9 (2023–2024) National Health and Collaboration Plan 2024–2027: Our Joint Health Service).

Highlight the societal impact

Applicants are encouraged to highlight the societal impact of their project by demonstrating measurable value creation in healthcare services. Projects that involve cross-sector collaboration among three or more partners - such as public sector institutions, academia, private enterprises, and user organizations - will be prioritized. The University of Stavanger (UiS) must be either the project coordinator or a formal partner in the application. Funding allocation aims to reflect the diversity of partners within the HelseCampus Stavanger cluster.

The seed funding is intended to support early-stage innovation and help projects scale up through regional, national, or international research and innovation funding opportunities. Applicants are therefore expected to outline their concrete plans for securing further financing.

Two-stage format

The application process follows a two-stage format. In the first stage, applicants are required to submit a simplified project outline using the provided Preliminary Proposal template and evaluation criteria. Following a thorough review, the top 10 proposals will be invited to submit a full application in the second stage. For more information about the two-stage process, see: "The new method reduced the researchers' time usage by 38 percent - Stiftelsen Dam."
