How online violence affects scholars
In recent years, academics have increasingly faced harassment, intimidation, and attacks online – especially when working on topics such as gender, inequality, or politics. This book brings together international research to explore what this means for academic freedom, public debate, and the role of universities today.

Combining real-world cases with broader reflections, the volume looks at how online violence affects scholars and their work, but also highlights ways of responding – through solidarity, care, and institutional support.
At the event, the editors and contributing authors will introduce the book and reflect on its key themes, followed by an open conversation with the audience.
