Stavanger Chamber Music Festival invites you to the programme launch on Thursday 23 April at 11am in the Eikenes Hall at the Faculty of Performing Arts, University of Stavanger, in Bjergsted Cultural Park.

The festival’s Artistic Directors, Christian Ihle Hadland and Andreas Brantelid, will be in Stavanger for the occasion and will present this year’s programme. They will also give the audience a musical preview of what awaits us in August.

In 2026, the chamber music festival enters the world of fairytales. Since the dawn of music, composers have drawn inspiration from legends and myths. In vocal music, the story is conveyed through words, while instrumental music allows the listener to create their own inner images. Before the age of photography and travel, imagination filled the gaps, and from the late 18th century the exotic found its place in music. In the 19th century, national awareness grew, and folk music made its way into art music. European composers sought adventure in America – and in time, the United States found its own musical voice.

The programme begins at 11am, with doors opening at 10.30am. Light refreshments will be served. Registration deadline is 20 April via this link: https://bit.ly/programlansering.
