In the future, ships will be autonomous and remotely supervised from centralized control rooms. In this talk, you will learn how the human operator can maintain situation awareness from a remote operation centre and how the operator and autonomy system can collaborate to safely take the ship to its destination.

Presenter:

Ole Andreas Alsos is a Professor of Interaction Design and Director of the Shore Control Lab at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). With extensive experience in human-centred design, human-computer interaction, and user experience, his research focuses on how advanced technologies, including autonomous systems, affect users and society. Alsos has led multiple interdisciplinary research and innovation projects exploring autonomous maritime operations and sustainable transport solutions. He is passionate about bridging technology and human factors to ensure safe, efficient, and user-friendly autonomous maritime transport.
