600 new students from 62 countries

On Thursday and Friday this week, UiS welcomes 600 new international students arriving at Stavanger Airport and offers them a free shuttle to student accommodation.

Happy group of international students who make new friends even before they arrive on campus UiS!

UiS wants to give new students a warm welcome to Stavanger and the university. All international students arriving at Stavanger Airport on Thursday and Friday this week are offered free bus transport to their new student residences. The welcome committee includes students in the International Students' Union of Stavanger (ISU). They work voluntarily from 0800-2100 Thursday and Friday.

This year approximately 357 new international students will start a master's program at UiS, and approximately 237 international students come as exchange students. Our 600 international students come from a total of 62 countries. Most students are from Iran, Pakistan and Nigeria. The total number of new students at UiS is currently 5,230.

On Monday, a new academic year starts at the University of Stavanger with the official semester opening ceremony at 12.00.

The ceremony also marks the start of the week-long Fadderfestivalen, where new students get to know fellow students, lecturers, the university and the student city of Stavanger.
