The number of international applicants to the Master of Science in Business Administration has increased by over 70 percent.

The applicant numbers for higher education in Norway were published Wednesday, 27. April.
It is the Master of Science in Business Administration that has the biggest increase in applicants on UiS Business School. In total, the increase is as high as 73,2 percent from 2021 to 2022 for those who had the programme as their number one choice.
– We have significant numbers of international applicants for this program this year. The increase makes us to the international program at UiS, which grows the most. It's pleasant to see for us at UiS Business School, since we have a clear ambition to be an internationally acknowledged business school, says dean Ola Kvaløy.
International recruitment

Kvaløy thinks the increase can come from that the Master of Science in Business and Administration was provided with the EFMD Programme Accredation last year, which is something international students tends to think is important.
– This is the leading international system for quality and accredation of studyprograms in economics and management. We have also worked more with the recruitment of international students this year, and it looks like that gave us a good result as well.
If you apply to this master's program, you can choose between five specializations to build your career path. These are Business development and innovation, Applied finance, Economics, Strategic marketing and analytics, and Strategy and leadership.
Business development and innovation is the second most applied international study at UiS this year, but the numbers are increasing for all five specialization.
The University of Stavanger has a new record in international applicants and has 1325 more this year than the last.
Also good numbers for the Norwegian students
The Bachelor's program in Business Administration is also doing good, according to numbers from Samordna opptak. This is the third most applied study with UiS this year. 550 has it as their first choice, and they are competing for over 211 places.
– This Bachelor holds their course even though it's a national decrease in the applicant numbers for higher education. And we are happy about that. The competition between these students is as known tough, says Kvaløy, and refers to the fact that this program is standard all over Norway.
In a fifth place at the UiS is the Bachelor in Law. There are 271 applicants for 60 places.
The third best year for UiS
There has been a decrease in the number of applicants for studies in general in Norway. However, this year had the third-best numbers for UiS ever.
– We see 2022 as a post-corona year, a year we go back to more normal circumstances. Potential students have more options this year than in the last two years. They have the opportunity to take a year off to travel or to work, and this seems to have affected the numbers. Better chance to travel also shows back on the numbers of international applicants, which is a new record, says Merete Vadla Madland, the acting principal at UiS.
