Groen and Belousova will present their work on Social system theory and high-tech entrepreneurship. Looking back at 15 years of 4S model as a research and entrepreneurship support tool: A case of VentureLab - a living lab for supporting knowledge intensive growth oriented entrepreneurs.

Dr. Olga Belousova

Dr. Olga Belousova is an Assistant professor at the University of Groningen. She received her PhD in Corporate entrepreneurship from the Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium). She further holds an MBA degree in Strategic management from the National Research University – Higher School of Economics (Russia), and MSc degree in Economics and Management Studies from Humboldt University in Berlin (Germany).


Olga’s research interests include new venture creation processes in both independent and corporate contexts. Her research has been published in the International Entrepreneurship and Management Journal, Technology Forecasting and Social Change, Frontiers of Entrepreneurship Research, and others. Recently, she has been developing a research line in the Healthcare and Life science entrepreneurship.


Olga is also active in educating STEM (Medicine, Life sciences, Biomedical engineering) students on entrepreneurship as well as on the commercialization of the university’s scientific and technical knowledge through the VentureLab North business accelerator. 

Prof. dr. A.J. Groen

Prof. dr. A.J. (Aard) Groen is a full professor of entrepreneurship and valorization at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. Groen is an engaged scholar connecting research, teaching and active entrepreneurship development. His research interests include entrepreneurship processes, innovation, technology dynamics, network theory and he develops dynamic social system theory.


He is particularly interested in high-tech entrepreneurship, corporate entrepreneurship & innovation, social entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurship support methods and techniques. He did research in the context of health, energy, manufacturing, international business and in accelerators. He has published a.o. in the Journal of Management, Organization Science, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Technology Forecasting and Social Change and Technovation.
