Both semester assignment and written exam must be passed in order to receive a final grade in the course.

Digital written exam. When artificial intelligence is used in assessments, the student must document this by completing and submitting the self-declaration form. If you submit text, calculations, etc. that are directly copied from an AI writing tool, this will be regarded as presenting the work of others as your own and therefore constitutes cheating.

The semester assignment starts in the beginning of the semester with deadline late October/early November. The work is carried out in groups and includes a mandatory oral presentation of the group results.

Continuation opportunities are not offered on the semester assignment. Students who do not pass the semester assignment can take this part again the next time the subject has regular teaching.

Bruk av KI som studiestøtte i studiearbeidet

The use of AI tools as learning support is encouraged in this course, but must never be a substitute for the understanding, reasoning and skills the course is designed to build — you must be able to produce and explain your own work. AI is a useful assistant for finding data, references, and background material, explaining concepts, give feedback on or help debug and structure work you have written yourself. AI can also be useful to generate practice questions for self-testing before assessments. AI should not produce the answers, code, calculations or text that you submit as your own. Any use of AI in assessed work must follow the course's guidelines and, where you submit work, be disclosed as specified in the syllabus — and you remain responsible for critically evaluating whatever the AI produces.

Open for

Open to all master students at UiS.

Admission requirements

Must meet the admission requirements of one of the study programmes the course is open for.

Course assessment

The faculty decides whether early dialogue will be held in all courses or in selected groups of courses. The aim is to collect student feedback for improvements during the semester. In addition, a digital course evaluation must be conducted at least every three years to gather students’ experiences.
