Introduction
The project course will contain topics at advanced level in biological chemistry. The course is intended to bring the candidate to the research front in an area pertaining to his/her PhD project.
Innhold
The course will give the candidate a professional specialisation within a chosen topic within Biological Chemistry at PhD level. This could be, for example, specialising in an instrument, or within a relevant subject area. The curriculum is set to match the research area of the PhD project together with the candidate's supervisors and course leader.
Læringsutbytte
After completing the course, the student shall have sufficiently detailed knowledge of the topic to be at the research front within the field, and will be able to perform thorough research and development within the specific topic.

The PhD candidate gives a 30 minute presentation of the agreed specialized topic area, and what has been learned. The oral presentation is approved/not approved by the course coordinator.
The PhD candidate need to write a description of the work that has been done in the thematic area, add hours spent, learning outcome (if courses or other micro-credits have been included, add the course certificates). Template is available from course responsible and the final description is approved by the course coordinator and PhD supervisor.
Arbeidsformer
Course content is decided together with supervisor and course responsible, and workload should reflect the 10 credits awarded. The candidate will adhere to set plan and perform the agreed activities and self study, which could as an example amount to 8 hours of project work per week for one semester. There are no ordinary lectures in this course; each student will receive independent supervision from the selected supervisor.

Course assessment
The faculty decides whether early dialogue will be held in all courses or in selected groups of courses. The aim is to collect student feedback for improvements during the semester. In addition, a digital course evaluation must be conducted at least every three years to gather students’ experiences.
