Content

The course offers a foundation of knowledge on the project planning and management of events. This requires students working in teams with allocated roles and responsibilities. The course uses both a theoretical and practical approach to learning in which students will go through a creative decision-making process to be implemented into a formal feasibility study process. Thereby learning essential knowledge about the practical planning, documentation, organizational, and technical considerations for the staging of an event. In doing so, gaining an understanding of the different phases of successful event management.

  • Event impacts and legacies
  • Event production and human resources
  • Marketing and sponsorship in events
  • Financial management and events

Upon completion of this course the candidate should have gained the following knowledge and skills. Students:

Knowledge

The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate both the theoretical and practical skills they have developed in the module. Thus, the summative assessments for this module will consist of:WE - the theoretical (first) part of the course will be examined by means of an individual written exam. Duration 1 hour. Weighting 20%.PFS - the project feasibility study is an initial study of all key aspects regarding, e.g., the event team structure and lines of reporting, the event concept, the design and theme, the demand and completion within the market, an initial overview of the event marketing, initial overview of resource requirements, areas of income, potential costs, desired profits, and areas of business and organisational risks. The report is to be submitted in Inspera. Weighting: 40%.EP - the key learnings from working with all aspects of event project planning and production will be created and presented by the students, showcasing their skills in staging an event and the different phases of successful event management. 10 minutes videopresentation. Weighting: 40%.

Compulsory assignments

During the semester, mandatory seminars will be held with a 75% mandatory attendance. This includes workshops and guest lectures. More details to be announced at semester start.
