Content

The course content is in a relevant topic of geosciences and of importance for the study program in geosciences engineering. The course is taught by a visiting scientist from another university/research institute in Europe. The course aims to strengthen the basic background in geosciences. The content may include one or more of the following topics:

  • Sedimentology
  • Structural geology
  • Geophysics
  • Geochemistry
  • Earth systems and climate

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

  • Deepening of knowledge and understanding in an area of geosciences that is of relevance for the program and for the working environment.

Skills:

  • To be able to apply the knowledge gained in the course to geosciences problems, courses, the thesis project, and working practices.

General competence:

  • To communicate to geoscientists and engineers the relevance of the course topics in solving multidisciplinary problems in geosciences.

Exam

Form of assessment Weight Duration Marks Aid
Group report 1/1 Letter grades

The evaluation is based on a group project at the end of the course counting 100%, which will be defined by the visiting lecturer before the semester starts. There is no final exam for this course. If a student wants to improve the grade, s/he must take the course over again.

Course assessment

There must be an early dialogue between the course coordinator, the student representative and the students. The purpose is feedback from the students for changes and adjustments in the course for the current semester. In addition, a digital course evaluation must be carried out at least every three years. Its purpose is to gather the students experiences with the course.
