Work-related use of alcohol MRP210
A large part of the total alcohol consumption in different countries is related to the workplace, and this is, both nationally and internationally, historically rooted. Different industries, working conditions, and workplace cultures seem to affect the use of alcohol, having different effects on men and women. Work related alcohol consumption can be argued as having both negative and positive consequences. While it can contribute to both teambuilding and to the reduction of stress, it can also greatly contribute to long-term sick leave, work-related accidents, as well as being damaging to the business’s reputation and to the psychosocial working environment. The course also addresses problem gambling/gaming and the use of illicit and prescribed drugs in working life.
