Learning outcome

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: deal with philosophical problems and have become acquainted/familiar with philosophy and management.

Skills: Show that he/she can deal with different forms of argument; analyze the arguments of others and take up a critical view towards these; acquaint himself/herself with new and unfamiliar subject matter and account for it.

General competence: Participate in philosophical discussions, contribute to a philosophical dialogue, and use philosophical dialogue as a method for learning and recognition.

Content
The course covers the great philosophers up to our day, and gives a historical and systematic introduction to moral philosophy (ethics) and hermeneutics (the critical study of interpretation). It has two aims: first, it shall introduce the student to important systems of thought of the past and present. Second, it prepares the student to think philosophically, in short, is a training in critical thinking.

The portfolio to be evaluated comprises: written group submissions. The combined weight for these is 35%.One written self-chosen assignment and for which there is an individual, obligatory tutorial. This assignment shall be between 8 and 12 pages 1,5 spaced.The individual assignment is weighted at 65%.If the portofolio is not passed, the entire portifolio must be retaken at the next ordinary exam.

Method of work
Instruction will be in the form of the seminar model. This means that the course cannot be followed without purchase of the textbook to be used, as it is the texts in this book which are the point of departure for seminar discussion. Besides the seminars there will be colloquia - these also obligatory, with written exercises.
