Chamber Music - Classical (VKA100KD)

The subject is a performing specialization subject at post bachelor level, as a natural extension of the Ensemble/chamber music subjects in the Bachelor's programme, and is combinedwith the instrumental subject VUA100 to constitute a full-time study. The course is concentrated on practice and repertoire knowledge, concert practice and instrument knowledge. Annual plans for major projects and activities will be drawn up. The projects will require different instrumentation, and will thus be different for each student.

Content

The studies consist of the following main elements: Rehearsal and repertoire knowledge, concert practice and instrument knowledge.

The subject is largely based on interaction and guidance in ensembles.

Learning outcome

General competence:

  • Develop a good and differentiated understanding of the role as an ensemble musician

Knowledge:

  • Develop an artistic understanding of different styles and modes of expression in the chamber ensembles that are natural and central to the instrument

Skills:

  • Develop the ability for chamber music interaction
  • Develop prerequisites for conducting and instructing chamber music at various levels

Final performance exam in the spring semester, with a repertoire of approx. 30 minutes.

Coursework requirements

100% compulsory attendance in classes and compulsory participation in projects and concerts.

In order to be able to take the exam in the subject, the student must have completed all mandatory work requirements.

Reference is made to the faculty's "Attendance requirements", which follow UiS's examination regulations.

Repertoire list must be delivered on Canvas by the announced deadline.
