Professor of Innovation studies, Rune Dahl Fitjar, will assume the role as head of the Center for Innovation Research on August 1st.

"It's great to take over a center that has shown good progress and has such a strong research environment. My aim is to further develop the center as a leading international research community and ensure that we deliver knowledge that is relevant for policy-making and business," says Fitjar.

CIR conducts research on innovation as a driving force for value creation and welfare development in a global economy. It was established in 2007 by the University of Stavanger and Norce (formerly Iris), with funding from the Gjedebo family.

Fitjar takes over from Marte C. W. Solheim, who has led the center since 2019. Solheim will join the top management at UiS as Vice-Rector for Innovation and Society.

"We are very pleased to have Rune back at the faculty and to have him take over the leadership of the center. With this appointment, CIR gains an extremely skilled expert and leader. Rune is a leading researcher in the field of innovation, and he has a broad network both nationally and internationally," says Ola Kvaløy, Dean of UiS Business School.
