Per Kristian Svensen (PK) is the main instrument teacher for trombone. He is also head of the wind section at the faculty. PK studied at Rogaland Rogaland Music Conservatory, the Academy of Music in Gothenburg and the NCOS orchestra school in London. He has previously worked as a solo trombonist in Helsingborgs Symphony Orchestra, Malmö Symphony Orchestra and Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra. He has worked as a trombone teacher at the Academy of Music in Malmö and at the Jutland Music Conservatory in Aarhus. From 2012 he has been employed at the Faculty of Performing Arts at UiS. Håkon Vestly is the main instrument teacher on clarinet. Håkon Vestly teaches clarinet and chamber music at the Faculty of Performing Arts (UIS), a position he has held since 1982. Vestly was solo clarinetist in the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra from 1977 to 2022. Read more about Håkon Vestly here.
Yurie Aramaki is the main instrument teacher on oboe. She is the principal Oboist at the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. Yurie Aramaki studied in Tokyo with Professor Satoki Aoyama. After her bachelor's studies, she went to Germany to complete her master's studies at the Musik Hochschule Mannheim with professor Emanuel Abbühl. She has received several awards in USA (IDRS Fernando Gillet-Hugo Fox International Competition), Italy and Taiwan.
Steven James is the main instrument teacher on horn. He is also employed as solo horn player in the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.
Øyvind Grong is the main instrument teacher on tuba. Øyvind Grong has been employed as solo tuba player in the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra since 1995, started working at the University of Stavanger in 1997. He received his education from the Norwegian Academy of Music 1988-2004, with a Higher diploma as the final degree. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in large parts of Norway and Sweden.
