The library at the Museum of Archaeology

The library is open to staff, students, and anyone interested in our fields of study. Our specialist areas are archaeology, conservation, museology, botany, art history, medieval history, and the history of Stavanger and Rogaland.

Opening hours during the museum's closing period

The archaeological museum is closed due to renovations. During the rebuilding period, the library is only open to the museum's employees. If others need to visit the library, a time can be arranged in advance via e-mail.

Here you will find the library's opening hours for the period 30 October 2023 to autumn 2024:

The library will be staffed:
Monday: 09-15.
Tuesday: Unmanned library.
Wednesday: 09-15.
Thursday: 09-15.
Friday: 09-12.

Remember that employees have access to the library throughout the museum's opening hours 6.15-22.00. You can borrow books from our lending machine.

Due to construction work in the house, there may be changes in the period. In this case, information will be provided.

Staffed hours:

Monday – Friday: 9 am – 3 pm.

Students and staff with UiS-id:

Tuesday: 15 – 20 Saturday: 11 – 15 Sunday: 11 – 16 For museum staff, the library is open every day from 6:15 am to 10 pm.
