- I'm really hoping I'll be spending lots of time in the studio working with different artists and bringing their ideas to life!

  • Name and age: Justina Simonyte, 25 years old
  • Home country: Lithuania
  • I'm currently studying: Music Production and Recording (MPO)

Stavanger is a quiet nordic gem surrounded by water with surprisingly noisy, wide and versatile music venues.

Justina Symonyte , MPO student

I chose this study because:

I was searching for a postgraduate programme in music recording in order to gain a more thorough understanding of the practical aspects of the process.

How is the everyday life for an MPO student?

Never the same. One day you are recording marimba, the next learning how to make cables, and on the third you are visiting experienced sound engineer at his studio (or once a month you are having the finest meal at the concert hall’s restaurant after you have recorded the symphony orchestra.

How is the atmosphere at the faculty and how did I get to know my fellow students:

Two well equipped studios are waiting for your projects!!
Being part of a small group creates a vibrant community, where students from all sorts of backgrounds can share their passion for audio and music. It's a great opportunity to broaden your experience by working with colleagues who could introduce you to something completely new (I never thought I'd be interested in metal music or punk rock, but we'll see what this year brings…).

This is my dream job:

I'm really hoping I'll be spending lots of time in the studio working with different artists and bringing their ideas to life!

My favourite activities at Campus Bjergsted:

Everyone knows what the best thing at the faculty smells like... the Waffles Day!

This is typical Stavanger:

A quiet nordic gem surrounded by water with surprisingly noisy, wide and versatile music venues.

This is what I like to do in my spare time:

Wandering around Stavanger and discovering new music at various venues!

These are my tips to this year’s applicants:

Develop a curious attitude and agree to be involved with as many initiatives as you can handle while exploring your own interests.
