About me

Dr. Bianka Karshikoff is an Associate Professor working in the field of Psychoneuroimmunology, with a focus on inflammation in chronic pain.  During her doctoral work at Karolinska Institutet, she used experimental inflammatory models in humans to study how inflammation affects the perception of pain, subjective mood, and brain function. She conducted her postdoctoral studies at Stanford University School of Medicine, focusing on inflammatory biomarkers in clinical pain populations. She is now investigating biomarker signatures for chronic pain progression and resilience.

Dr. Karshikoff is the group leader of the UiS Biopsychology Research Group. She is affiliated with Karolinska Institutet and is a member of the Steering Committee for the European Psychoneuroimmunology Network. She is serving on the Editorial Board for PlosOne, and regularly acts as a guest editor and reviewer for scientific journals. She teaches Health Psychology and Biological Psychology in the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Psychology
