The project aims to integrate AI-powered practices into engineering education, preparing future engineers to apply generative AI and prompting techniques in Mechanical, Civil, Marine, and Maintenance Engineering. Through new project-based courses, hackathon-driven summer schools, joint theses, and mobility schemes, PromptUp strengthens global partnerships, enhances employability, and builds faculty competence in AI-integrated teaching.

Vision

To empower the next generation of engineers with practical AI skills that enhance creativity, problem-solving, and employability, while fostering international collaboration and sustainable innovation in Mechanical, Civil, Marine, and Maintenance Engineering.

Strengthen Partnerships

  • Establish three new bilateral exchange agreements to support student and staff mobility.

Develop New Courses

  • Design and deliver two project-based courses in AI-powered Engineering Practices (5 ECTS each)

Hackathon-based Summer Schools

  • Organize the first international summer school in Cape Town (2026):
  • Organize the second international summer school in Seoul (2027):
  • Mobilize 18 short-term exchange students.
  • Engage 50 students in innovation and AI integration.

Joint Thesis Projects & Research

  • Facilitate 15 joint theses (Bachelor & Master) across the project period (5 each spring).
  • Mobilize 15 long-term exchange students (2-6 months each).
  • Disseminate results through 15 theses and 9-15 publications.

Staff Mobility & Capacity Building

  • Enable 23 short-term staff mobilities for international workshops, summer schools, and partnership development.
  • Strengthen faculty competence in AI-integrated education.

Curriculum Upgrading & Dissemination

  • Develop a framework for upgrading existing courses with AI applications.
  • Upgrade 4 UiS courses with AI-powered modules.
  • Host a mini educational conference in Stavanger (2028) with 30 participants to share outcomes.

PromptUp School is a one-week programme designed for Bachelor (BSc) students eager to explore the power of Generative AI in engineering. Blending crash courses with a hackathon sprint, it’s your chance to learn, build, and compete in Cape Town’s vibrant academic setting.

You’ll move from learning the basics of GenAI to teaming up and prototyping solutions, and finally showcasing your ideas to mentors and industry experts.

The programme combines short tutorials with a hackathon sprint where international teams will prototype creative AI-driven solutions to real engineering challenges.

Open primarily to BSc students, but MSc students are welcome if their program has no bachelor-level track.
