Algebraic geometry is a part of mathematics that is classically devoted to the study of the solution sets of polynomial equations in several variables, so-called algebraic varieties.

Complex analysis focuses on the study of calculus involving complex numbers, with applications in complex geometry and harmonic analysis.

Differential equations are important within mathematical models that are used to gain insight into mechanisms within transport and reaction processes.

Mathematical physics can be interpreted as the application of rigorous mathematical methods to problems in physics, in areas such as cosmology, relativity, geometry, quantum mechanics, supersymmetry and string theory.

Geometry

In the period 2024-2030, the research group hosts the project "Fano manifolds, wall structures and torus fibrations".

The group has received NOK 12 million by the Research Council of Norway to investigate and classify the mathematical concept of Fano manifolds.

From 2014-2018 the group hosted the project "Knipper på abelian varieties", also this funded by the Research Council and the University of Stavanger.

The group also has an ongoing ISP project called "Geometry" (2022-2024), with the following activities:
