PhD Education at the University of Stavanger

The University of Stavanger has five PhD programmes, that each spans a wide range of disciplines.

The PhD program is a three-year research education. The majority of those who are admitted to a PhD programme is employed as PhD candidate at the University of Stavanger, but it is also possible to apply for admission with other funding.

The education includes a dissertation or artistic result based on independent work, relevant courses equivalent to about six months of study, participation in national and international research environments, relevant academic or artistic communication, a trial lecture and public defence.
