Dr. Shangming Wang, a Marie Curie Fellowship recipient from the Department of Mechanical and Structural Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Stavanger, was awarded the Outreach Scholarship to present his research at the 44th International Conference on Ocean, Offshore & Arctic Engineering (OMAE 2025). The conference was held in Vancouver, Canada, from June 22 to 27, 2025. Only 29 young researchers worldwide were selected to participate in the OMAE 2025 Outreach for Engineers Forum. Dr. Shangming Wang from the University of Stavanger was among the recipients of this prestigious scholarship.

This is the seventeenth year of the Outreach for Engineers Forum. Highlights of the Forum include presentations of the latest technology trends (covering ocean engineering, offshore engineering, civil engineering, petroleum engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering and project management), most in-demand job opportunities, possible career paths, and team building activities.

According to Dr. Shangming Wang, the scholarship provided a valuable opportunity to collaborate and engage with other talented young researchers and engineers. It also allowed him to present and discuss his innovative and practical engineering ideas with leading experts in marine and offshore engineering.

Moreover, several other UiS researchers also attended the conference, striving to showcase our university's expertise in marine and offshore technology to the international community. Their efforts contributed to strengthening global academic visibility and fostering opportunities for international research collaboration with universities, research institutes, and industry partners.

The OMAE Conference is widely recognized as one of the largest and most prestigious events in the fields of marine, offshore, and subsea technologies. It is essential for our researchers to present their work to the global marine and offshore engineering community and to engage with leading experts from around the world,” said Prof. Muk Chen Ong.
